In an interview at the VGAs, Valve's Gabe Newell confirmed that Steam is working on hardware options for Steam as a living room experience, possibly using Linux as its primary OS. Additionally, he "expects companies to start selling PC packages for living rooms next year" that can compete with the upcoming next-gen consoles. This news follows on the heels of the official release of Big Picture mode, Steam's solution for PC gaming in a living room.
